The province of Almería is located in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula. The climate is Mediterranean, warm and dry, with low rainfall. The number of hours of sun is very high with over 3,000 hours per year. The temperature remains mild throughout the year. It does not fall below an average of 13ºC in winter, nor does it rise above an average 25º C in summer.
Almería is Spain's desert province; indeed numerous spaghetti westerns were filmed in the mountains here. The dry, warm climate and harsh mountainous landscapes create a wonderful setting for golf. The area is split into two for golf purposes with three courses south of the city of Almería, and three courses north.
The whole coast is booming in terms of tourism but you get a feel for the real Spain here, and thanks to this mild climate, golf is a pleasure all year round and is a rapidly emerging destination. Almería Airport is expanding, and Malaga, Murcia and Alicante Airports also act as gateways for the area.
