Nestling between the golfing heavyweights of the Costa del Sol and Portugal’s Algarve, lies the Costa de la Luz. Named after the bright little buildings that permeate the stunning natural landscape of the region, the Costa de la Luz runs from the great Guadiana River in the west through the Doñana national park and onward down the coast of the Cadiz province in the East.
The area sits in the provinces of Huelva and Cadiz between the province of Malaga and the border with Portugal and to the South of Seville, and is part of the well-established golfing territory of Andalucia. The result is a quiet, unassuming region that is still as popular with Spanish and Portuguese visitors as it is becoming with the more traditional golfing visitor from Germany, Scandinavia and Great Britain. With good weather all year round and an increasing level of choice, it is not difficult to see why interest in this golfing territory is on the up.
Lots of research laden golfers, travel to Spain via Portugal these days. It's only a forty minute drive from Faro airport to the bridge at Ayamonte and when we cross it we're in the Costa de la Luz.
Your money goes a lot further on the Costa de la Luz. There are some top quality hotels at very reasonable rates and, in our opinion the golf courses, are as good as those on the Algarve.
