Rio Pinar is a private club steeped in golf history that has opened its doors to limited outside play for traveling golfers only. This is the site of the original PGA Tour's Citrus Open, which then became the Bay Hill event. Built in the late 50's this classic is still host to major events such as the Hooters Tour Q School, FSGA events and UCF collegiate events. It's a fantastic, classic design with mature pine trees and the green complexes had been rebuilt in the mid-90's so there is a modern feel to satisfy today's golfer. The course feels wide open with homes far from the fairway but plays tight with numerous doglegs and the pine trees. We strongly suggest you take this opportunity to play Rio Pinar, even if your itinerary includes much pricier, high-end courses. This is a great treat to play and has never before been available to outside play. Also non the course is a large population of Fox Squirrels. These little animals will entertain you while playing and might possibly steal your lunch if you're not careful!
